Certified

After a terrifying 200 question exam, I am now a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner! Yep, that’s right. You can now call me Cassandra Jones, RN, MSN, APRN, CPNP. Ummm… people in medicine like to have a lot of letters after their names.
I’m going to have some oreo coffee ice cream now. I deserve it.

Moving on out…

I’m officially done with work. Last night was my last shift and it was a good one. I was taking care of a little girl who exclaimed to me while we were walking down the halls, “I have a wedgy in my crotchy!” Yep, kids say the coolest things.
Apparently Care Bears are back. Who knew? I think they’re kind of creepy. Last night we had one that giggled and said “That tickles” anytime you touched it. Weird.
So today I’m headed to Providence to watch Chris ride his bike around in circles. Should be thrilling. Hopefully he doesn’t get dizzy.
Schedule for the next few weeks: Tues 7/1: PCNB Boards Exam Wed 7/2: Movers coming Thurs-Mon: To MASS for Fitchburg Mon 7/7: Fly to Bend Tues-Sun: Party in Bend!!! Mon-Fri: Party in Cabo!!!
If I can just make it to Thursday I’ll be okay.
See all you West Coast people soon!
Tip of the day: If you have a wedgy, just pick it, but if both your arms are in casts, you may need to have your nurse pick it for you.

It’s Business Time

I’m sitting at a coffee shop in the Ghetto Haven right now attempting to write a paper while really just watching crazy people out the window and eating a big chocolate chip muffin while drinking a big cup of hot coffee. That was a serious run-on sentence but I have written so many papers in the past few days that I feel entitled to write a run-on sentence. Oh yes, I was going to tell you that I’m at this coffee shop and the song playing in the background is “It’s Business Time”. Hilarious and random. For those of you who don’t know about this song just google it. It’s hilarious.
Chris had a good race in Georgia and is currently on an airplane headed for Connecticut. When he gets home he’ll have to change all the light bulbs that burned out while he was gone.

The Boob

I will just ignore the fact that this is my first post in nearly 2 months… Okay, I’m glad we can all forgive and forget.
So, I’m no longer a race widow and Chris and I have been squeezing in as much fun as possible before he leaves again in 3 days. Last night we went to the Michael Buble concert (aka “The Boob”). It was at Mohegan Sun which is a HUGE Indian casino about an hour up the coast in CT. It seriously puts Win River to shame (Sorry Redding folks, CT’s got you beat on that one). So we headed to the casino and smoked our pack of second hand cigs, ate some scrumptious buffet food, and watched a very entertaining concert. I would recommend it highly, sans the pack of Marlboros. We even tried our luck at the slots but turns out the machines didn’t like the dollar bill I brought. I took it as a hint and spent my money on a tasty pastry instead.
It’s finally getting warmer here and yesterday I went outside without a coat for the first time in 4 months. I felt naked and cold but liberated.

But wait…

Incident #4: Snow storm followed by freezing rain make for a very terrible 30 minute walk to school.
Incident #5: Turn on kitchen light tonight and sparks fly followed by all lights in the house going out. Hmm… luckily I had my candles going. Turns out a lightbulb burning out caused the entire circuit breaker to blow. Good thing I have a B.S. in electricity.

Life in New Haven without Chris

So Chris left Sunday and my solo winter life in New Haven began. Things always seem to go so smoothly when Chris is home. However, it never fails that the day Chris leaves all hell breaks loose in New Haven.
Incident #1: Keycard to enter parking garage is broken and the parking garage is locked. Hmm… guess I’ll be parking on the street.
Incident #2: Went to Starbucks to study and some crazy dude tried to sell me his prescription drugs. Umm… no thanks.
Incident #3: While Chris was getting blown around in the wind tunnel in Charlotte, I was getting blown around on my walk home from school in sub-zero winds gusting over 40 mph.
More to come I’m sure.

Abigail Rose Hullinger

I’m an Aunt! Jen’s amazing and did it all without pain meds! Wow. Both Jen
and Abigail are doing great. Can’t wait to see them soon.

Ouch

I’m not sure if any of you are keeping score out there, but I have one sore arm, one sore buttock, and am tied 1-1 with Chris on the Wii. I could barely lift my arm up to take my shirt off this morning… Major Nintender Arm.

Hello Winter…

Forecast for Sunday…. snow showers.
